Geoffrey Ridden

Geoffrey Ridden

Geoff Ridden was born in the North-East of England. He began his academic career as a lecturer at the University of Ghana in 1971, and subsequently returned to England to spend over thirty years at the University of Winchester, taking time out to teach in Wisconsin, California, Poland and Norway. After a long and extinguished career, he met his wife, Terry, a Professor at Southern Oregon University, and began dividing his time between the UK and the USA, eventually settling in Oregon permanently in 2008.

He has published widely on Shakespeare and on Renaissance Literature, and currently works as a lecturer for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He is also a volunteer host on Jefferson Public Radio, and has credits as an actor in Africa, Europe and the USA. In the summer time, he returns to England to play his favourite role of ‘silly grandpa’ for Emily Ridden.
